Chapter 11 of another bloody gastro guide, a restaurant spotlight, of Otto, Berlin!
If I had a restaurant, Otto would be my inspiration. But this isn't about me; this is simply about Otto, okay, Lana? Okay.
Otto is a tiny neighbourhood restaurant that isn't tiny in its standards and aspirations. Nearly everything is made in-house, using locally sourced, often wild, produce from the surrounding Brandenburg region. But this isn't about showing off; it's about authenticity; they mean it and know why they do it. Otto redefines German cuisine, making it undeniably sexy. Inspired by the Brandenburg region's nature, the menu offers a mix of signature dishes and exciting new creations, promising a unique dining experience every time.
This restaurant is simply a joy to be in. Due to its tiny size, it always has an atmosphere and excellent music (mainly funk and soul), and the staff are passionate, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Oh, and the wine list is a corker. It's not all locally sourced, but it's excellent and low-intervention. Amarone, anyone?
Otto won't be the cheapest or the most expensive meal you've ever had. But it will leave you wanting to experience it again, no matter how much you spend. And that, my friends, is rare, don't you agree?

Burnt leek, egg yolk, hazelnuts
Trout, flattened and blackened
Wild deer, sprouting broccoli, dandelion leaves
The signature (and best dish) labneh and beetroot dehydrated and rehydrated with sloe berries
Burnt Italian meringue, hay yoghurt ice cream and candied pine cones. A herby sorbet and chilli
Otto is a yesso not a notto. In Berlin? Just Go! (You really need to book, by the way).

One of my favorite spots in Berlin!! I’m long overdue a visit back
I went there a few weeks ago. Overall, it was a nice experience. The wine recommendation wasn't that great. The food was interesting, especially the dehydrated beets and the pickles. The trout was not as surprising as the rest of the dishes.
